How long have you been an artist?
I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil; pretty much my entire life. Before I had access to digital drawing hardware and software I drew every day throughout school. My agendas and notes were always lined with scribbles, and sometimes they covered my notes too. In 2011 I started out with Paint Tool Sai, a Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet and a copy of Adobe CS6 Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. I learned about vectors and rasters quickly and created some digital pieces for my IB Art class senior thesis in high school. From there I worked between Adobe Creative Cloud and CS6 through college. I still draw traditionally and find traditional and digital drawing complement one another.

What other experience do you have?
I have held roles in customer service, information technology, data entry/analytics, statistics, marketing and healthcare.

What graphic design work have you done?
For over 7 years I have volunteered my graphic design services, creating logos, business cards, branding material, product mockups, CD Covers, service dog cape embroidery templates and websites. Not all of the designs are published publicly.

What is in your logo?
My logo has a Hanko. The Hanko mark was was given as a gift to me by my mother for my birthday. My mother and our friend from Japan worked hard to create a Hanko with special meaning, and it has been incorporated as a stamp of my work’s completion to this day.

Ideas:
I draw what I see and what I imagine. Sometimes it comes from a line or shape, but I approach a new challenge or piece with the intent to explore with an open mind. I draw inspiration from seeing other people’s styles and interpreting how they create their pieces using texture, form and color.

Why create?
Every opportunity to create is a chance to learn something new, and I find joy in expanding my skills as an artist. I’ve won awards internationally and locally, but my greatest joy is creating new works to share with others and opportunities to collaborate on new ventures.

How do approach client/company work?
I love opportunities to imbue meaning into branding, whether it be through using color theory and form or incorporating something special to the client that will translate to their target audience. I also favor finding the perfect blend of detail and simplicity to make a brand/design stand out.
